Reise um die halbe Welt / Trip to DownUnder

ein-maaaal um die *ähm* nicht gnaze, nur die halbe Welt... *träller*
(German Song: once around the whole world ...well only half of it for me, this time)

Bis Singapore habe ich ing the es schon mal geschft: 12h Flug im Airbus A380, Platz 11A..

Ich liebe Singapore AIrlines - auch wenn ich trotz superduper BusinessClass Sitz (Horizontal liegen) nur ca. 3h geschlafen habe. Dafür war das Filmangebot gut:: SourceCode (mit Jake Gyllenhaal - nice!); Thor (mit Chris Hemsworth - leeecker!) und Fast Five (knackig wie immer: Vin Diesel und Paul Walker)

I love Singapore Airlines, even if I only get 3h sleep. However, the entertainment was cool: source code (with Jake Gyllenhaaö - nice!); Thor (with Chris Hemsworth - yummy!) and Fast Five (sexy as allways: Vin Diesel and Paul Walker)

 nebst einem guten Filmangebot, erleichtern vielleicht meineTop-Reise-Tipps den langen Flug?

 - Schichtenlook (T-Shi, Pulli, Halstuch); bequeme Hose; und bügelfreier BH für die Damen

 - natürlich Stützstrümpfe (gibts als Kniesocken) ; allenfalls Blutverdünner spritzen
 - Kopfwehtablette im Handgepäck; ein leichtes Schlafmittel wäre im Nachhinein gesehen ev. auch nicht schlecht gewesen, oder ein grosses Glas Rotwein ;-)

 - OroPax 

apart from good movies, my top travelling tips maylighten the long trip?
 - wear layers (T-Shirt, Pullover, Scarf), comfy trousers; and non wired bra for the ladies.
 - support stockings or socks; or have an injection with blood thiner before the flight
 - have something against headache with you; a light sleeping pil would have been good, with hindsight, or a big glas of red wine ;-)
- ear protection

Shops erkunden hat mich 2h beschäftig, inklusive eines Besuchs im Schmetterlingsgarten (gefühlte 99% Luftfeuchtigkeit!) - sehr hübsch; die Annaehmlichkeiten der Lounge geniessend überbrücke ich den Rest der Zeit.
Discovering the shops here in Singapore took me 2h, including a visit to the butterfly garden (I assume it was 99% humidity in there!): it was very nice; enjoying the lounge covers the rest ot the waiting time...





nächster Halt: Australien / next stop: Australia

now, NOW! ready to go - aber jetzt, JETZT! gehts los...

Soooo, von langer Hand geplant und eingefädelt, dann doch  nicht zustande gekommen und wieder neu aufgegleist und schlussendlich auf nächsten Januar angedacht, ist nun doch alles sehr kurzfristig passiert. Im Lauf einer knappen Woche ist entschieden worden, Flüge gebucht und Koffer gepa... ähm, die packe ich heute....

Morgen Mittag fliege ich ab nach Australien.... für 4 Wochen, um dort zu arbeiten.
(und wenn ich dann schon mal dort bin, mach ich anschliessend noch 1-2 Wochen Ferien...)
Im September / Oktober sollte ich dann wieder hier in der Schweiz sein um die letzten meiner Projekte an meine Kollegen zu übergeben, danach ist geplant dass ich ab ca. November (d.h. sobald das Visum erteilt und der Vertrag aufgesetzt ist) nochmals für 1 Jahr runter gehe.

Wohin es geht? Es geht nach Brisbane; das heisst, eigentlich nach Darra, das ist 20 km ausserhalb des Stadtzentrums von Brisbane...

Planned for a loooong time and made some arrangements, called off and restarted; ultimately planned for next January to start; finally everything went on very fast. Within one (yes 1!) week it had been decided, flights have been booked and suitcases pack... well, I have to pack it today...

Tomorrow at noon I'll fly to Australia -woring for 4 weeks, this time
(and being there I'll most probably take a week or two off afterwards...).
September, October I'll be back in Switzerland to hand over the remaining projects to one of my colleagues. And then it is planned (but plans may change, as you know) to go down under for another year as soon as my visa and STA (Short Time Assignment) contract have been sorted out.

Where do I go to? I go to Brisbane, or actually to Darra, thats 20 km / 12.5 miles outside of the City center (CBD)

Wow! die Schweiz ist wirklich ganz schön klein verglichen mit Australien...

Wow! Sitzerland is really very small compared to OZ...

Oh - Ich bin arg im Rückstand...

nachdem die Australien-Sache sozusagen gestorben war, konnte ich im Juni 2011 nochmals für 2 Wochen nach England.

Oh dear, I am a bit behind schedule...
After the OZ-thing more or less died, I had the opportunity to go to UK for another two weeks in June 2011.

Ein besonderes Erlebnis war der Mittsommer Real-Ale-Trail, ein MiniBus, der einige Pubs in der Umgebung von Stone anfährt. ca 10' fahren & 20' Zeit um das Bier -sorry: Ale, natürlich! zu trinken.
Total 9 Pubs in 4.5h... ich habe nur halbe Pints genommen, das war gerade so machbar ;-)

A very special event was the Midsummer Real Ale Trail: a Minubus that brought us to several (9 in total) pubs in 4.5h... so glad that we didn't have to drive by ourselves ;-). I verymuch liked the beer - sorry ALEs, of course! I  took only half pints, that was just manageable :-))
